My client is a privately-owned property development and construction company with significant assets & liquidity, over 80 live projects and a clear cut, stable position in the market with a focus on new build hotels, super prime leisure refurbishments and large-scale new build residential. With net assets in the region of £2bn, and further land acquisition underway all the time, the project portfolio for this group is substantial and ever growing. The construction arm of this business work as an in-house Construction Management team with the group’s interest at its core focus and their supply chain of approved sub-contractors ready and waiting. The current team is made of senior level industry experts with backgrounds ranging from consultancies, developers and main contractors. This fast-moving crack team are well supported at group level when required but are also allowed autonomy on their projects.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client requires a well-established Commercial Manager to come on board and lead the commercial team across this company’s diverse construction portfolio, consisting of new build, refurb and fit out work throughout London & the Southeast including hotel & residential projects.   The successful candidate will be tasked with quickly getting up to speed on the ins and outs of the projects, the current teams and slotting into the company culture, whilst taking a full responsibility for all commercial aspects of the construction projects. Along with smart client and sub-contractor management, the accurate management of the team is essential to this role, so strong people management skills along with having an eye for finding profit within tricky and projects will be a winning combination.

This role will work as steppingstone into a director role. Following a solid performance on this project the successful individual will be fast tracked to the top this businesses construction with a view to growing the business substantially over the coming 5 – 10 years.

The guideline basic salary is £98,000 – £110,000, however this will be dependent upon the specific skills and experience of each individual. Employees will be promoted through the company at a rate that is comfortable for their abilities rather than within a set company structure. This encourages the strengths and successes of the company and each individual.

REQUIREMENTS

My client is seeking a high calibre employee with the suitable professional qualifications, a strong and stable background within good quality main contractors, who will add value to the organisation. They will have been in a senior commercial position for a minimum 5 years and have a background which has included the full spread of project types with experience in managing tricky projects with a successful track record in delivering profit. They must have good people management skills to be capable of managing a team of around 4 QSs within a d=fast paced work environment.

This role is perfect for someone who has been there and done it at project level and wants to take the next step up. The long term opportunities within this business are endless!
