ABOUT THE COMPANY

With a head office based in Surrey (the position will be to cover West London, North West London and East London) this RC frame & groundwork specialist currently turns over around £140 million per annum as a total across their main RC frameworks, groundworks and their special works division with individual packages ranging from £5m up to £50m each. This company is privately owned with an MD that remains hands-on, making sure standards are maintained in line with the superb reputation they hold. The company has a strong team, with every member of the management structure working together towards common goals. The senior team quite often refer to the business as a well-oiled machine, where each cog has a vital part to play. They are proud of their ability to secure a lot of their work through repeat business. Clients prefer to come back to them to negotiate future projects rather than the business having to win work at open tender stages with aggressive pricing strategies.

As a Contracts Manager within this team, your role will focus on pre-contract and post-contract activities, taking projects once they are secured and managing a selection of sites through to completion. Good management and operational skills need to be shown along with the technical knowledge gained from an engineering background and again a strong amount of experience in this role with a rival business. You will report directly to the Construction Director of the business and the MD.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to increased work levels, I have been asked to find a Contracts Manager for this business to add additional support to the management structure. Currently, this business is turning over around £140 million per annum and with a large proportion of work in West London, North West London, and the East London areas. They need to recruit an additional contracts manager to help support this workload. It is crucial that suitable applicants have experience working for rival concrete frame and groundwork subcontractors/principle contractors to be considered. I want to add that this business is still growing year on year, and its reputation is that of a leading player in this market (i.e. top 10 concrete frame subcontractors in the UK).

REWARDS AND BENEFITS

Packages are always based on individual’s backgrounds and experience but as a rough guide, I have been told to target people earning anywhere from £120,000 to £130,000 per annum. This can be broken down in a number of ways and this business is open to people on a PAYE or self-employed basis. Bonuses are paid twice a year and are based on performance KPI targets on a quarterly basis as well as all the usual fringe benefits.

REQUIREMENTS

I am looking for an individual who is degree qualified in civil engineering and has already progressed through the ranks up through project management to an existing contracts management level. You may be recently stepped up to this level or may have been doing it for a number of years, but it is crucial you have come from this sector background and have gained this technical management experience while working in the subcontract concrete frame and groundwork market.
