Estimator in Hampshire




Professional, ambitious, and understanding, are the three words I’d use to describe this client. I’m currently looking for an Estimator to join this exciting fit-out main contractor based in Bournemouth. After a successful few year, my client is in the process of building on their existing pre-construction team. For the last 15 years, my client has been delivering CAT A and CAT B office fit-out projects across the country. My client prides itself on truly understanding the space and understanding that a good workspace will help boost teams energy, productivity, and happiness.


  • Engage in initial client briefings to understand technical requirements and budget considerations.
  • Evaluate and analyse client tenders and employer requirements thoroughly.
  • Negotiate contractual terms with clients, prioritizing commercially viable payment terms.
  • Provide comprehensive advice and reporting internally and externally to ensure optimal client outcomes.
  • Proactively seek competitive quotes from subcontractors through the tendering process.
  • Review subcontractor quotes and address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Oversee project progress during the pre-contract stage to secure successful project outcomes.
  • Estimate, process, and present project costs aligned with client specifications.
  • Develop detailed cost plans to maintain rigorous financial oversight.
  • Ensure pre-contract phase projects are commercially viable beyond mere acquisition.
  • Collaborate with design teams to implement value engineering strategies.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of Licences to Alter (LtA) for clients, offering guidance on validations, measurements, and condition checks.
  • Participate in and review internal cost planning sessions with the project finance team.
  • Cultivate and nurture strong client relationships to foster trust and satisfaction.


  • At least 2 years of experience as an estimator, particularly within the design & build fit-out sector.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering significant profits on past projects.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in managing diverse and demanding workloads effectively.
  • Possessing a strong commercial aptitude and capable of guiding the business accordingly
  • Sound understanding of mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • While a degree or HNC/HND qualification is preferred, it’s not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, along with solid skills in Outlook & Word
  • Thorough knowledge of JCT contracts and current building regulations
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety legislation, or equivalent qualification
  • Possession of a full and preferably clean driving license is a must.


My client is offering a salary of £65,000 – £75,000 depending on experience. Alongside this, my client offers one of the best rewards and benefits packages I’ve seen. This position is a hybrid working role with 1-2 days a week in the office.
