Having worked with this contractor for the past 15+ years I have seen them develop in both size and capability. They now currently turnover around £100 million per annum, building concrete frame and groundwork packages ranging in value up to £30 million each for a variety of residential and commercial contractors and developers throughout London and the surrounding Home Counties. They have a very modern edge to the business while maintaining traditional roots. I know each of the directors of this business and I would highly recommend them all as leaders in their own rights, but also as a family-like unit that brings out the best in each other.
On a personal note, I believe this company is one of the best not only for the projects they help complete and not only because of their size and general capability but also because of the environment they create. They go that extra mile to not only retain their staff but to truly keep them happy. Small things have been added to the office like a gym that people have access to all day! They have a treatments room where massages and treatments are available to everyone on Fridays. And they even have a rooftop garden and BBQ area, I’d want to work here myself if I had the relevant experience! These little perks may not seem a lot in the grand picture, but hopefully, they go towards showing what type of employer this is (i.e., a business that takes the time to take care of their people and give a little back).
They really are a great company to work for and be part of. You can gain great project experience, develop capability in modern construction techniques and you can be part of the values they believe in and a truly fantastic team.
Business 2 – Central London Based
Having been established for over 40 years within the specialist field of concrete frames and groundworks, this business is, without doubt, one of the leading names within this field (literally top 3 name in my opinion). Current turnover is over £150m per annum and they have consistently worked at the cutting edge of the sector to be one of the best at what they do. They currently complete packages ranging in value from £10m up to £100m each on a mixture of residential, commercial, educational, and leisure projects throughout the London area and further around the UK.
This business prides itself on its high repeat business rate and its in-house capability to take complex projects from design through to completion. I would highly recommend this business as a polished environment where individuals can grow and flourish working on some of the best and most iconic projects in and around London and it is worth pointing out, that I have never had anyone leave this business in a short period of time that I have placed there.
Business 3 – Essex Based
Based in Essex just outside the M25 this privately owned business specialises in the construction of reinforced concrete frames and associated groundwork packages. They currently turnover around £40 million per annum but with sensible plans in place for targeted growth, this is expected to increase by around £5-£10m per annum.
They offer a modern image with a professional office, excellent in-house capability, and great standards for quality in everything they do. They maintain a focus of developing their systems before expanding their workload. The businesses directors are constantly focusing on investing back into the business to build in security for everyone that works there, plus better working conditions and capabilities for moving forward. This truly is a very exciting business to work for.
Business 4 – Central London Based
This contractor currently turns over in excess of £100m per annum, completing complex London-based projects for a variety of main contractors and developers. Having worked with this contractor for the past 10+ years I have seen them develop in both size and capability. They have a polished brand built on technical capability and a view to deliver prestigious projects around the capital of the UK. They have a very modern edge to the business while maintaining traditional roots. I know each of the directors of this business and I would highly recommend them all as leaders in their own rights, but also as a unit that works well together to make the business stand out.
On a personal note, not only is this business incredibly strong, but it also has a very likable team that yes works on complex projects with tight expectations, but does so in a calm and considered fashion, making sure clients are left with a positive experience, which is why so much of their work is repeat business and is also why so many of the team have been with the business for so many years. They carry out demolition, complex top down basement construction, RC frames, and associated civil engineering.
Business 5 – East London Based
With offices in London our client is a specialist structures and civil engineering subcontractor who has been trading for over 30 years and currently has a total turnover of over £100 million per annum. They have developed from a traditional RC frame background into a company that now provides concrete works, structural steel works, associated groundworks, demolition and builders work packages to a variety of sectors and projects (i.e. airports, energy projects, rail projects, HS2, infrastructure projects, commercial projects and residential projects). This company really can provide an excellent level of diversity in both project types and sectors of work.
From a people point of view, I have dealt with the MD and directors of the business for over 10 years and have seen them develop their team not just to fill spaces as new projects land or as they grow, but to truly bring people in who fit their culture and can bond with them for the long term. They are one of the better payers in the sector and always offer opportunities for people to progress, so they are the all-round solid option for someone who wants to be paid well, taken care of and also given a variety of projects to gain experience on.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our clients are all looking to strengthen their existing preconstruction teams by adding an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to their ranks.
The opportunities will involve the usual duties such as putting together tenders for the concrete frame and groundwork packages in and around London for primarily residential developers/contractors, but some also work in the commercial, educational, industrial, leisure, and other sectors too. Usual package values you will be expected to target could range anywhere from £1m up to £100m each depending on which option you look at and some or all of the following duties will apply:
REQUIREMENTS
For these opportunities, I am looking for individuals who have previous experience working for an RC / Concrete Frame and Groundwork subcontractor in the UK in an estimating capacity.
It is important you have the knowledge of pricing and producing tenders for Concrete Frame and Groundwork packages in and around the South East and London to be considered.

REWARDS AND BENEFITS
Due to the nature of these opportunities, I am looking to target individuals currently earning anywhere from £70,000 to £120,000 per annum (self-employed options are available).
Salaries/rates will be negotiable at the point of the interview, depending on the level of experience you have gained.
With the basic salary, our client offers the usual package of car allowance, pension, bonuses, and similar if you are PAYE, or a slightly tailored version of benefits if you are self-employed.
