My client is a multi-disciplined well known main contractor with a superb reputation within Civil Engineering, Rail, and Highways. They are well established and have been trading for over 60 years, turning over £300 million. Their national presence has given them the opportunity to open and maintain 7 national offices, covering locations such as London, Kent, Surrey, Liverpool, and Southampton (this role will be based in Colchester).

This position has come about due to the growing growth of the company and they have recently won a new Framework within their highways division. The projects that they get involved in range in value from £200,000 up to £24M and they see them through from inception to completion. The commercial team has a tremendous amount of experience of over 40 years within Rail and Civil Engineering which helps the more junior staff to learn and train correctly. ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to some internal promotions within the company my client is now looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their very experienced and senior team. The section of the contract you will be working on will be valued at £25M a year working on major highways and infrastructure. The overall duration of this contract will be at least another 2 years, it’s guaranteed long-term work and stability for the right candidate. There is another project that is local to follow on from this one. The contract is working on link roads and roundabouts as well as having the opportunity to work on bypasses and flyovers.

You will be working underneath some brilliant people. The head of the contract who you will have a good working relationship has a brilliant reputation and has one of the best names within the highways industry. He has 20 years’ experience working within the highways industry working for well-respected contractors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Senior Quantity Surveyors, managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. You will be involved with the reviewing, evaluation and delivery of payments as well as developing client relationships.

The role is a permanent position. No freelancers will be considered.

REQUIREMENTS

You are required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC or equivalent qualification) in either Construction, Civils, Commercial management or Quantity Surveying.

To be considered for this position, you should have experience working as a Managing Quantity Surveyor within highways for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 company. Your work history should be stable; ideally you should have worked at your previous companies for a number of years.

A UK driving license is mandatory for this role.
