Are you an Environmental Advisor looking for a forward thinking career move?

ABOUT THE COMPANY

My client is a multi-disciplined, cash-rich, well-known sub-contractor who is currently turning over £90M per annum with projections of turning over £100M in the next year. They specialise primarily within the water (wastewater and clean water) and infrastructure/non-infrastructure areas of civil engineering, with offices in North London, Kent, and on the south coast (this role will be based in their North London office). The company has some of the best staff in the industry working for them, they are very well respected across the utility industry and they’re financially very secure and in a stable position. While the business is looking to expand, they are also keen to maintain its family feel atmosphere, where it’s a fun working environment and everyone is treated as a name, not a number, with respect from the directors across the company. This is a contractor I enjoy recruiting for. Over the last 4 and a half years I have placed 3 of their senior managers and all of them are still there and enjoying it.

They are a relationship-based contractor and pride themselves on the quality of the work that they produce. This has led them to have repeat business with Thames Water, holding certain frameworks for over 30 years. On top of this, they have long-standing relationships with Affinity Water, Southern Water, and South East Water and have recently started working with Anglian Water.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to ongoing growth, my client is looking for a Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join the SHEQ team. You will be working closely with the Head of SHEQ, someone who has over 15 years of experience in the industry which means you will be learning correctly. He is also a professional and likable individual which means your job will be more enjoyable. There are some brilliant long-term opportunities with this position, there are opportunities to progress into an Environmental Manager, then progress into a Head of Environmental position, offering you serious growth and progression. Your day-to-day duties will involve taking a strategic lead in the sustainability strategy for the business, ensuring environmental minimum requirements are met with the adoption and sharing of best practices and lessons learned shared across the business/industry as well as delivering environmental and sustainability training to all levels within the project team. This isn’t just a role; this is a career opportunity for someone who is looking to develop but also looking for an opportunity where they can make a difference and an impact within a business.

REWARDS AND BENEFITS

You will be working for a cash-rich, forward-thinking contractor who still has a family feel to them. They have a brilliant reputation within the industry which leads to a continuous pipeline of work that will offer you long-term job stability. This is also an interesting opportunity where people will listen to you and you can make a real difference within the company. As previously mentioned, there are some brilliant long-term opportunities with this position, there are opportunities to progress into an Environmental Manager, then progress into a Head of Environmental position, offering you serious growth and progression. My client also offers flexible working & working from home. You will also be rewarded with a salary ranging between £45,000 – £65,000 + car allowance.

REQUIREMENTS

You must have experience working in the Construction or Civil Engineering industry in an environmental or Sustainability advisor position. On top of this, you need to have a degree in an Environmental discipline and/or IEMA associate. I am looking for someone passionate about making a difference.

SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

Clients we work for

Our clients range from small, privately owned specialist contractors right up to top-tier PLCs responsible for shaping our country’s landscape.

What our clients say

We have worked with Alex Wallace and the Cityscape Recruitment team for a number of years now and find their service excellent.

They supply well matched and vetted candidates and very quickly understood all our requirements. They have always demonstrated good market knowledge and an ability to deliver to our requirements.

Commercial Director,
Main Contractor

I have used Cityscape Recruitment multiple times over the last 5 years. Very pleasant to deal with and all candidates put forward for interview are well suited to the position and well vetted by the team, so there is no time wasted with unsuitable applicants. I would highly recommend Cityscape. I intend to use them again in the future should any vacancies become available.

Operations Director,
Platt and Reilly Ltd

The Cityscape Recruitment team has always been great to deal with. Always ready to listen to our needs and requirements, a quality some recruiters do not appreciate or have, then advising where they can assist in our staff procurement. We look forward to working with Laura and Cityscape in the coming years.

When you first contact us, be that through direct contact, responding to an advert or applying through our website, we will connect you with a consultant who works in your specialist area.

Initially, they will arrange a meeting to talk through your CV and career history. They will encourage you to go into detail about your background and experiences, capabilities and responsibilities, personal circumstances and any other factors they feel are relevant to help them build up a well-rounded profile of you.

We take extraordinary care in matching professionals to an opportunity – one that will help enhance their careers and a clients’ team. We therefore also use this meeting to empower you in your career. Using our extensive knowledge of the construction industry, we would provide in-depth overviews of businesses, projects and available roles, and guidance on where your strengths will add the most value and career potential.

After this meeting, the consultant will speak to a number of their clients about you and your CV. Who they speak to can be either jointly agreed upon or you can trust the judgement and expertise of the consultant to contact clients they feel are the best fit for your experience and goals.

If any clients are interested in meeting with you, the consultant will manage the interview process, coaching you before any interviews if required. (Further guidance can be found here.)

If you are successful in receiving an offer(s), our consultant will communicate this with you and help to negotiate the offer(s) and any other terms of employment.

Finally, we will support you in resigning from your current role, navigating potential counter offers and starting your new role.
