ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a multi-disciplined, reputable sub-contractor who currently turnover £90m per annum. As a business, they specialise primarily within the water (wastewater and clean water) and infrastructure/non-infrastructure areas of civil engineering, with offices in North London, Kent, and on the South Coast. The company has some of the best employees in the industry working for them, they are very well respected across the utility industry and are currently in a period of steady growth.

Whilst the business is looking to expand, they are also keen to maintain their family feel atmosphere, offering an enjoyable working environment and everyone is treated as a name, not a number, with the respect from the directors across the company.

They are a relationship-based contractor and pride themselves on the quality of the work that they produce. This has led them to have repeat business with Thames Water, holding certain frameworks for over 30 years. On top of this, they have long-standing relationships with Affinity Water, Southern Water, and South East Water and have recently started working with Anglian Water.

As a business, they have transitioned into the Capital Delivery sector rather than Reactive Maintenance type works which were typically associated with this company. Their award on the LOT 2 Emergency Works Contract AMP7 supports this transition as well as being awarded and completing 40km of mains replacement (recent BCIA award) and securing a further package of 20km. This is in addition to some flagship projects to include and not limited to West Hyde Rising Main (TW Maple Lodge site), Store Road Rising Main, and Rye Meads.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to successful company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for a Mains Replacement Site Supervisor who will be responsible for supervising construction activities that take place on a day-to-day basis at various mains renewal sites throughout Greater London. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will work out of the East London Depot and will be accountable for the following:

  • Provide, monitor and control labour, plant and materials to meet the programme.
  •  Monitor and instruct Subcontractor and Direct workforce, identifying training requirements and ensuring only trained, competent and authorised persons are completing assigned tasks and operating equipment and plant.
  • Ensure delivery of briefings including start of shift, method statements, risk assessments and regular toolbox talks covering appropriate health, safety and environmental issues are recorded and understood by your teams.
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are stored, handled, used and disposed of in accordance with the COSHH assessment.
  • Report all health and safety incidents, including near misses and injuries, immediately, and assist with any incident investigations.
  • Comply with environmental legislation and company procedures.
  • Monitor quality standards on site ensuring high standard of works to meet the specification requirements ‘first time’ and minimise rework.

 

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must hold the following:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • SMSTS
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene
  • Confined Space Trained
  • NRSWA Supervisor

For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere between £48,000 – £52,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered including a car allowance, 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, and other benefits.
