ABOUT THE COMPANY

My client is a tier one main contractor who is part of a multi-billion pound group, a contractor with a superb reputation across the UK. This part of the group is operating at a turnover of £240M. My client is still looking to grow around 5% per year over the next 5 years. They are a multi-disciplined rail contractor who works on power projects, signalling, infrastructure, track renewals, and maintenance. The contractor work on a mixture of long-term frameworks and one-off projects, this could range in value from £200,000 – £200M. Company culture is important, isn’t it? You would be working for a contractor with a very low staff turnover, they help their staff, train their staff and look after their staff.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to ongoing growth and a ridiculously busy pipeline of work my client is now looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to help manage a team and deliver a large pipeline of works. The team will be flexible depending on the size of the project you are working on; it can range from 1 Assistant to a team of 6 Quantity Surveyors. You will be in charge of managing and dealing with the client as well as managing all sub-contractors. You will be working on CVR’s and chasing payment. The type of contracts you will be working on will be ICC D&B contracts (you don’t need experience on this). You will be working on a mixture of signalling and power projects and this will range in value from £200K – £20M.

REQUIREMENTS

My client is looking for someone who can hit the ground running so they will need somebody who has at least 2 years of experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role for a Rail or Civil Engineering contractor. On top of this, I will be looking for someone who has good stability in their CV, ideally 3 years working for each company. It would be desirable if you have worked for the Main Contractor. Finally, a good standard of education is needed, I will be looking for someone whom degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying related degree or a Civil Engineering degree.
